Popstars really do live the life, don’t they? Not only is there the constant stream of money, adoration and mind-altering substances to dabble with, but there’s also the joys of weeks spent on the road to factor in too. Sure, taking a three-week round trip in a dilapidated van or tour bus across Brazil might not initially sound like the most glamorous of experiences, but think of the opportunities it presents: rolling up in all these unknown locations with their foreign customs, it’s like a ‘try something new every day’ resolation without actually having to do anything at all to achieve it.
When Notion favourite and all-round pop genius in the making Charli XCX took to Brazil for a recent run-around with Friendly Fires, Savoir Adore and Klangkarussell as part of MECA Festival, we asked the ascendant queen of Tumblr pop to document her experience: taking a series of snaps that portray the unhinged nature of her live show and the carefree fun of her first time in fresh waters.
Now on her way back to the studio to finish up album number two, here’s a reminder of why you should be very excited about what’s to come next from Miss XCX:
